Below you will find a list of the questions I get asked on a regular basis.

As your local electrician in Bristol, I specialise in the small jobs. Although some may view small jobs as insignificant, I believe they are just as important as the big jobs. I leave dates free in my diary so I can be available to help the residents of Bristol at short notice. You can find out more about small electrical jobs by clicking here and reading my recent blog.

Yes absolutely, I'm one of the few electricians in Bristol that do small jobs and I'd be happy to replace light fittings for you.

I will discuss your requirements on our initial call and depending on the nature of the job, I will either schedule a suitable time, or for emergencies arrange to attend as soon as I can.

No, I have a minimum charge of £75 plus VAT, which includes up to 60 minutes in your property. If I feel this is going to take longer or a return visit is required I can discuss this with you at the time.

Yes, I offer a free, bespoke written quote for every project so you can make sure we're the best fit before going ahead. That said, we receive many calls requesting an estimate for fault finding jobs. I am unable to provide a fixed cost for the unknown so this would fall under my minimum fee.

Upon completion of your project, I will issue an invoice which can be paid via online bank transfer or debit/credit card via Stripe. For some larger projects, we may ask for staged payments. This is our preferred payment, if you wish to pay by cash or cheque these methods will be accepted.

Yes we take a payment of £30 once you are happy to proceed, this guarantees you a slot in the diary. For larger jobs (Eg over £1000) a 10% deposit is required.

Yes. If you're happy to allow me access to your property.

In most cases, you will lose power for a period of time specific to the job at hand. This is so I can do my job safely without the risk of getting an electric shock.

Yes, I am a proud member of the NAPIT. Which means you are guaranteed a great job, and are protected by their 6 years NAPIT Work quality guarantee if something isn’t quite as it should be.

I am fully insured, and have public liability insurance of £2 million and indemnity insurance of £250k

All my work comes with an insurance backed 6 year guarantee but I’m confident in my work so I top this up to 10 years. All materials supplied come with their manufactures guarantee.

Yes, you will receive an electrical certificate for 99% of the electrical work we are doing at your property. The other 1% would be work like replacing a light bulb or removal of electrical equipment. You will also receive a building control notice certificate for works when required.

Yes all installation work is signed off and a certificate is issued. I will also register the job with Building Control if required.

Yes I can. I can inspect and test your electrics and provide you with a thorough report, known as an EICR, on its condition and safety. I will also recommend any improvements. This will take a few hours and the cost will depend on the size of the property and the size of your fuseboard/consumer unit.  Please feel free to get in touch.

An EICR or Electrical installation Condition Report is a periodic inspection of your electrical installation. Think of it as a MOT for your home.

If you notice a smell of burning or a strange fishy smell in your home, it is important to take immediate action to prevent a potential electrical fire. The smell of burning could be caused by a variety of factors, including overheated wiring, a faulty appliance or device, or a problem with the electrical panel or circuit breaker.

If you smell burning in your electrical system, the first thing you should do is turn off the power to the affected area by switching off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse in the fuse box. This will help to prevent further damage to the electrical system and reduce the risk of an electrical fire.

A RCD is a safety device normally located in your fuse box which is designed to save your life in the event of a fault.

Bonding is a safety earth connection to the pipework in your home. It is important that this vital safety element is in place before we undertake any electrical works. Not every home needs bonding but we will advise if it does when we visit to quote or to undertake work.
